Heart & Sole: We're looking for a lot of love

Little Burgundy continues its ongoing commitment and partnership with Leave Out Violence (LOVE), a not-for-profit youth organization dedicated to educating and empowering teens affected by violence.

By introducing teens to photojournalism, reporting, radio broadcasting and leadership programs, they are offered the opportunity to express their experiences and create positive changes in themselves, their schools and their communities.

In 2008, Little Burgundy participated in LOVE’s first Montreal fashion show “Rock, Paper, LOVE”. LOVE youth leaders worked alongside notable Montreal fashion designers Astri Prugger, Eugenia Leavitt and print artist Lea Stillinger to create their own t-shirts and dresses! The youth learned valuable skills such as sewing and computer illustration applications. They also experimented with earth friendly alternatives to traditional paper by using the powder of stones and minerals to create the first ever stone dresses and journals. Little Burgundy provided the footwear for the show, as well as gift cards for each guest. The inspirational evening raised over $12,000.

To further reinforce Little Burgundy’s proud alliance with LOVE and as a token of appreciation during the holiday season, each Montreal youth received a $50 Little Burgundy gift card at LOVE’s Annual Holiday Party held on December 17th at Dawson College.

2009 is shaping up to be an exciting year for our partnership. Working with several LOVE chapters across Canada, Little Burgundy is planning to play a key role in various initiatives by hosting exhibitions of LOVE youths’ photography and writing.
