TIMBERLAND AND LB PARTNERED UP WITH VISUAL ARTIST ERIC LACHANCE FOR A VERY SPECIAL PROJECT. AT LB, WE REALLY ENJOY COLLABORATING WITH LOCAL ARTISTS TO CREATE UNIQUE DISCUSSIONS AND PIECES OF ART SURROUNDING OUR FAVOURITE BRANDS. WE WERE ABLE TO ASK THE ARTIST SOME QUESTIONS TO GET TO KNOW HIM AND TO BETTER CAPTURE THE SPIRIT OF HIS WORK.
Can you describe yourself in 3 words? Chair, Ants, Planes
So, why chairs? Alternatively, why not tables? I also think there’s just more chairs in the world so it’s easier to use them as a basis of research compared to tables. I mean, I think there’s more chairs. Also did we ever answer the question of if there are more doors or wheels in the world? Secondarily my dining room table is made of 15 chairs so at the end of the day you can have your cake and eat it too.
What does a day in your life look like? It’s like that 10 minutes before recess is about to end in grade 2, and I am just trying to cram all the play in before the bell rings. |

The piece of art he created for Timberland just came naturally to him. He really wanted to change the function and perspective of a big, dirty, and strong object like a crane to create something more elegant with it.
“I have been wanting to execute this concept for a while, plus I have trouble using things as they were intended to be used. I’d try to turn a microwave into a TV if I could. So it sort of came naturally. Also what if an excavator is tired of digging up dirt or moving scrap from one area to the other? What if an excavator wanted to create rather than destroy?”

For Eric, the excavators carry a “big ego” since they are typically used to demolish. For him, so do the Timberland boots. What if the Timberland boots could be used to create something else, something elegant?
At LB, we know how Timberland boots defined a decade in the early 2000’s and we have been obsessed with them ever since. They are a true fashion icon and a staple to have in any wardrobe. Shop Eric’s look here |
