When it came time to tell the story of the adidas Superstar, collaborating with rug artist Trinity Leon, better known as Rugsbytrin, was an easy choice. Her bold, colorful pieces transform spaces with energy and meaning, drawing inspiration from her Latin heritage, the vibrant tones of nature, and the rhythm of everyday life. For this project, Trinity reimagined the Superstar’s legacy through a vinyl recordshaped rug: a tribute to the brand’s deep roots in hip-hop and dance culture. The footprints woven across the design symbolize the rhythm and movement of dance, a nod to the creative communities that have defined the Superstar for decades and continue to carry its legacy forward. |

The adidas Superstar has been a cultural icon for decades. First released in 1969 as a basketball shoe, it quickly moved beyond the court to leave its mark on the world. It became part of hip-hop’s DNA, emerging alongside the movement itself. What started as an underground art form soon evolved into a global force, with trailblazing artists showing their loyalty to the shoe and turning it into a symbol of creativity, self-expression, and legacy. |
